- PANLA is the general term used in Nigeria for this particular fish.
- It has many species, but three main species include: i) ALASKA POLLOCK: This is the one that is used for making STOCKFISH (OKPOROKO). It has very little or no Fat contents in it; ii) HAKE: Just like ALASKA but it has a very sharp dentition. Its whole dentition consists of 95% canine. It has a great taste.
